DFK EMEA Annual Conference attracts record attendance

A record number of delegates attended the DFK EMEA Annual Conference held in Milan.

A total of 121 delegates from member firms across the region as well as from as far afield as New Zealand, Australia, Canada, United States, Singapore and India for the three-day conference at the Milan Hilton Hotel.

The timetable included a several interesting speakers including Dr Jen Jenkins, from Positive Group, who hosted an interactive presentation on strengthening resilience in the workplace.

Three new member firms – BSKP based in Stuttgart, Niveus Consulting Group based in Budapest and IC & Partners based in Italy – also attended the conference and gave delegates insights into their firms.

Barry Lewis, executive officer for the EMEA group, said: “The conference went very well and we had a record attendance which was fantastic – there was a real buzz around the whole event.

“We were welcomed to the conference by DFK Italy chairman Enrico Nicolini, whose firm Studio Nicolini (NC&A Nicolini Commercialisti Associata) is based in Milan. Enrico has been a DFK stalwart over 5 decades, having joined DFK in 1976 and having served on the International board of directors for many years and overseen the expansion of DFK Italy to now include offices in Genoa, Naples, Turin, Rome, and of course Milan.

“As well as a keynote speaker from the Central Directorate for Tax Legislation of the Italian Revenue Agency, the presentation from Dr Jen Jenkins who was a particular highlight. She gave an informative and engaging presentation highlighting how to strengthen resilience and manage workplace stress and pressure.

“Achieving more together was another key theme, with three member firms giving presentations on how their DFK membership has enabled them to work with other members to win work that they would not have been able to obtain on their own.

“Delegates also had the opportunity to enjoy a number of extra-curricular activities as well as celebrate the 75th anniversary of member firm Alfa Accountants and Advisors, from the Netherlands.”

Johan Dens, chairman of EMEA, added: “We were very happy with the attendance at this year’s conference. Milan is a very attractive destination and we also had a lot of delegates from the UK attend which was excellent to see.

“There were some very interesting speakers including Gaetano Scala from the Italian Ministry of Finance who spoke about tax regulations in Italy. Dr Jen Jenkins also gave a very good, interactive presentation.

“We have had some very good feedback and we hope to see delegates at our next conference in Dubai.”

DFK Italy chairman Enrico Nicolini added that the conference was a very successful event which gave delegates the opportunity to exchange knowledge.

He said: “We were honored to have hosted the conference and are proud of the success of the business sessions that were very well structured and interesting in all their aspects.

“We were also impressed that the 2017 EMEA Conference has overcome the record of attendants. The conference was characterised by a constructive atmosphere and a strong fellowship sense, open to a mutual exchange of knowledge.”
