A top ten accountancy practice in the Netherlands is celebrating 75 years in business.

Alfa Accountants and Advisors, a member of DFK International, is marking its 75th anniversary this year.

The leading accountancy firm has 31 offices and more than 900 employees located throughout the Netherlands and has budgeted for an annual revenue of more than €75 million in 2017.

Alfa’s roots date back to 1942 and since then the company has seen a considerable amount of growth and a number of developments, one of the most significant being in 1999 when it became employee-owned, which is still the case today.

The firm provides audit, accounting, tax and a wide range of advisory services to a variety of SME clients, and has a strong tradition within the agricultural sector which accounts for 40 per cent of clients.

The practice will be marking its 75-year milestone by inviting employees and their families to a day at one of the Netherlands’ top amusement parks as well as holding a celebration for employees in October.

Clients will also be invited to celebratory events across the Netherlands featuring barbecues and lectures.

Marco Vermin, director at Alfa Accountants and a member of DFK’s executive board of directors, said: “We are delighted to be marking Alfa’s 75th anniversary this year and look forward to celebrating with both employees and clients.

“We are a large accountancy firm with offices across the Netherlands and a total of 15,000 clients.

“We are quite different from other accountancy firms and are employee-owned. We also value sustainability and are a member of B Corp which recognises this.

“We are a proud member of DFK International and are very pleased to have good connections with member firms across the globe.”

The firm is now looking to continue its growth over the years to come.

Marco added: “As we look to the future we have a gradual growth plan. We do not plan to merge with any other large organisations, but buy individual accountancy firms and continue to grow the company gradually.

“We will also be looking more at the digital side of the business and how we can build on this.”

Martin Sharp, executive director at DFK International, added: “Alfa has been an extremely active member of the association ever since joining DFK in 2014 and we congratulate them on reaching this significant milestone.

“The firm has exciting growth plans and we look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with Marco and the team in their 75th year and beyond.”
