Geffen Mesher, one of Portland’s largest locally owned accounting and business consulting firms, is pleased to announce that Tania D. Gitch has been named as the new chair of the firm’s tax department.

Tania joined Geffen Mesher as a shareholder in December 2013, and she has quickly become a respected leader, role model and mentor within Geffen Mesher. She has more than 20 years of public accounting experience working alongside owners of closely held businesses and individuals, is an active member of the firm’s dealer services practice group, and is also on the steering committee for the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. As chair of the tax department, Tania will actively lead our 64 tax professionals. She is taking over the reins from shareholder Rick Hawkins, who has done an outstanding job leading and expanding the tax department throughout the last eight years.

Tania is also involved in several professional and community/civic organizations. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Oregon Society of CPAs, executive committee for Lighthouse Credit Union, audit committee for Clark College Foundation, treasurer for Hollywood Theatre, and board member for the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Washington.

“Tania has shown herself to be an exemplary leader,” said Michael Rompa, managing shareholder. “We are confident her skills and perspective will contribute to the ongoing growth of our tax department, and our clients will continue to benefit from the strength in our firm’s leadership.”
