Kok Tong is a partner of the merged firms Folks DFK & Co PLT and Azman, Wong, Salleh & Co PLT, where he plays a key role in the leadership and delivery of audit and assurance services.

 

He began his professional journey in accountancy in 1983 with Coopers and Lybrand (now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers PLT) as an article clerk, gaining foundational experience in auditing and financial reporting. In 1994, he joined Yeo Yong Poh & Co (which has since evolved into Folks DFK & Co PLT) as an audit manager, where he advanced his career and broadened his expertise in the audit profession.

 

Over the course of more than four decades, Kok Tong has accumulated extensive professional experience across a wide spectrum of audit and assurance engagements. His portfolio includes:

• Audits of public listed companies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and international standards.

• Financial due diligence reviews, supporting corporate transactions and investment decisions.

• Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and listing exercises, guiding companies through the complex process of entering capital markets.

• Internal control reviews, assessing and strengthening governance and risk management frameworks.

• Tax assurance services, providing independent verification and compliance support.

• Review engagements, delivering assurance on financial information for various stakeholders.

 

Beyond his client work, Kok Tong has contributed to the profession through active involvements in technical and industry committees. He previously served as a co-opted member of the Accounting and Audit Technical Committee of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and he also sat on the executive committee of DFK Asia Pacific.

 

Kok Tong is an approved company auditor in Malaysia and he is also a registered auditor with the Audit Oversight Board of the Securities Commission Malaysia, underscoring his compliance with the highest standards of audit quality and regulatory oversight.
