As you may have heard the USA has a new president – Don Mellott.

Don, managing partner of Mellott & Mellott has taken the reins of DFK USA – succeeding Mike Rompa from Geffen Mesher.

The change in hot seat was confirmed at the North America Annual Conference in Las Vegas.

Mellott & Mellott – based in Cincinnati, Ohio – has been members of DFK for over 10 years and Don said it was ‘an honour’ to be named president of DFK USA.

“We take advantage of our membership of DFK an awful lot – it’s a great group of peers, and is a great resource for our firm,” said Don.

“DFK is lucky to have a group of very smart people across the association who are willing to share information, so to be president of the USA region really is an honour.”

Continuing to provide value for members across the USA and attracting new members are among the priorities Don said DFK USA will be concentrating on during his term.

He added: “One of our main thrusts will be to continue to provide value to all our members, and to attract new firms.

“The nature of the accountancy profession means we see more and more mergers and acquisitions, so it is important we add new firms across the group where it is needed.

“Taking over from Mike won’t be easy. Mike is a smart guy and he did a wonderful job as a leader.

“He is very insightful and I would hope to try and do as well as he did for DFK USA. We’ve had some great presidents in the last few terms and I’ve been lucky to have been on the executive committee and watched how they’ve handled that leadership role.”

Mike – managing shareholder of Geffen Mesher based in Portland, Oregon – held the presidency for one year and said he looks back on his term with fond memories.

He said: “Don will be a fantastic president, the organization is in great hands and I am fortunate to have been part of a great team.

“The Executive Committee is a group of passionate leaders that made my job easy along with strong support from our administrative team of Graham, Maureen and Molly. I wish Don all best in his year.”
