Business Growth Through Networking at Asia Pacific Annual Conference

Growing business through networking was a key theme at this year’s DFK Asia Pacific Annual Conference in the Philippines.

The conference, which was held at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Cebu, welcomed 40 delegates from 15 different countries including China, Australia and New Zealand.

The conference also hosted DFK International President Demetris Demetriou, Executive Director Martin Sharp, Vice-President of the Americas region Paul Panabaker and Vice-President of the EMEA Johan Dens.

Key note speakers included Gaurav Malhotra from the Bank of Singapore who spoke about the current investment market in Asia Pacific and Rob Farrugia, Director at CSC Global, who discussed the importance of digital assets to protect your business.

Navin Patel, Vice-President of DFK Asia Pacific, said: “The key theme of the conference was networking which was very well-received by the delegates.

“It was not about just networking at conferences – we also had a very interactive session on how different individuals network to create value for their practices.

“For the first time, the DFK Asia Pacific conference held a separate optional technical session and those who attended enjoyed the short sessions on topics including the new long format audit report, consulting services for family businesses and tax implications of doing business in New Zealand.

“External speakers also presented on the economic development in Philippines, the development of Indian Sandalwood plantation in Australia and investment opportunities and the investment climate in the Asia Pacific region.

“Acyatan & Co., CPAs was an excellent host firm and provided an enjoyable and memorable experience, and the conference provided a great opportunity for delegates to understand how business is done different countries.”

Emma Tran, Executive Officer of DFK Asia Pacific, added: “As always, we had great participation from the Asia Pacific Regional firms.

“The business sessions were interesting and thought-provoking and we had some wonderful feedback from the delegates on the speakers.

“Conferences are a great opportunity for partners from DFK member firms to discuss issues and share good practice management matters. They also increase the understanding and cooperation between DFK member firms.

“We were very fortunate that the weather was in our favour and the venue provided the perfect environment to network in a relaxing setting.

“One of the highlights of the conference was the gala dinner which was our finale event and gave our participants an evening to relax, enjoy and do some final networking in a social environment.”
