DFK International member firms from across Middle East and Africa (MEA) joined forces in Dubai for this year’s annual conference in the region.
The three-day conference was attended by representatives of DFK member firms in Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Kenya and Uganda, along with EMEA Vice-President, Johan Dens from Belgium; EMEA Regional Executive Officer, Barry Lewis; International Executive Director, Martin Sharp; and Chair of the DFK Accounting & Assurance Committee, Ashutosh Pednekar from Mumbai, India.
The meeting was facilitated by Arvind Malia, the Executive Secretary of the MEA region, from Dubai firm N.R. Doshi & Partners and saw members review ways of further enhancing client service and finding new ways of working closer together across the regions. He then further discussed in detail outline of goals and objectives of the MEA region.
Chair of the group, Gerard Zovighian, Managing Partner of Lebanese firm DFK FMO, lead proceedings and articulated a vision for the group. It was agreed that goals and objectives would be set in the coming months.
He stressed on the role that DFK could play in spreading a culture of Corporate Governance in the MENA region, mentioning the growing awareness of this important issue amongst the business community.
As well as updates on national and international developments, the group heard interesting presentations on corporate governance in the MEA region, and an update on the latest development in IT platforms, and pretentions on the topical accounting, audit and taxation matters.
